Hungary’s most visited little town is Szentendre. In spite of having been there literally thousands of times, Szentendre is for me like a multicoloured treasure-box offering something memorable to each and every visitor!
We still enjoy getting lost in the narrow winding streets among small houses, old churches and the tiny synagogue, drop into galleries of contemporary art or peculiar museums. There is always handicraft fair, so if you like shopping, Szentendre is a paradise!

One hour drive to ESZTERG!OM, Hungary’s first capital. Visit the vast enterior of the cathedral. VISEGRÁD Castle was Hungarian royal seat for 200 years, and there is the miraculously discovered and partly renovated Royal Palace. In the artists’ town SZENTENDRE we walk in the small, winding, mediterranian alleys, visit small but amazing exhibitions and/or do some (well deserved) souvenir shopping.

We start with a breathtaking view of the the light-green lake from the Tihany hill. Church full of colourful woodcarving, and a 1000 year-old crypte.
