Lake Balaton is the biggest freshwater lake of central Europe!

Places to visit at lake Balaton: the Tihany peninsula, with great view, church with impressive wood carving, and a 1000 year-old crypt. Old fishermen houses are open to show life here 200 years ago. Balatonfüred, with some pretty villas once belonged to the aristocrats, is today one of the centres of modern beach-activities, and a bustling nightlife. Keszthely has the elegant  Festetics Palace to visit, with a breathtaking, miraculously survived library.

Hiking and biking: there is a bicycle path all around the lake, and you find unusual basalt-formations to climb. Badacsony is the highest hill around, with lots of vines and winecellars! With local wine, don’t forget to taste the Hungarian Fishermen’s Soup, made of local carpe.

In  the evening, bars and nightlife are waiting for you around lake Balaton, or just sit at  the lake shore and admire the silent lights and the stars reflecting in  the water…
