Taking the highway from Budapest we reach lake Balaton in 1,5 hours.Start with a breathtaking view of the the light-green lake from a hidden lookout tower only locals know about.
Short drive to Balatonfured, first holiday place of Hungarian aristocrats. We walk along the lake shore, and taste the healthy source water that made Füred famous.
We visit the Benedictine Abbey on the Tihany penincula. The Barogue church is full of colourful woodcarving, and has a 1000 year-old crypt with the original tomb of a Hungarian king. The panorama from Tihany church is breathtaking! The old fishermen houses are open with Hungarian handicraft and pottery. For lunch we recommend a Hungarian speciality: the Fishermen’s Soup, out of carpe from lake Balaton. If you wish and weather permits, you may even swim in the lake!
In the afternoon we take you to one of the best wineries at the lake. Sipping vine on the terrace, you will enjoy the peaceful view of the surrounding vines and lake Balaton.
Back to Budapest in 1,5 hours.
