This tour lets you experience the rich Jewish history and traditions of Budapest. Takes you through all three parts of the city, across many centuries, with visits to the medieval prayer house, to the Hidden Synagogue of Buda, with a look at the Lauder Javne (Founded by Ronald, son of Estee Lauder)See the hidden Synagogue, and the oldest still working temple dating back to te 18th century.
Pay your respect in front of the Memorial to Raoul Wallenberg, the saviour of thousands of Jewish lives, and of Carl Lutz swiss consul his friend and ally.
Visit the most moving Holocaust Memorial in the city, the 60 pairs of abandoned shoes on the bank of the river Danube, where thousands were shot into the icy waters just days before liberation.
The tour also takes you to Old Buda, where Jews found refuge after they were returning from slavery sold into, by the Christian crusader army after their community was ravaged during the siege to take Buda back from the Muslims (1686). A little surprise visit takes you to one of the best kept secrets of the area presenting statues by Imre Varga, who created the Tree of Life, that we shall visit in the courtyard of the Grand Synagogue at the end of the tour.
