Budapest Train Tour
See your guide: Katalin D.We start out in the Buda side, taking the Cog Railway. The Budapest Cog Railway takes residents of hilly Buda to their homes. Sometimes it travels so close to the pretty villas, that you can look in the window…
The Cog Railway takes us up to the Children’s Train, where (almost) everything is done by enthusiastic children. We buy our train tickets from a child, children give signals and permission to the trains, and on the train they will seriously control our tickets. A local expert will introduce the Children’s Train to you, who happens to be my 14-year-old son… The Children’s Railway takes us in the Budapest hills, where almost no tourists go, but which is a favourite recreation place of locals.
We get off in the middle of the forest, the woods of Budapest, and will walk 20 minutes on a light hiking trail. Even my youngest-ever visitor, a 4-year-old girl managed to do it….The reward of our hike will be the view from the highest lookout tower of Budapest. (520 m=1700 feet)
To get down from the hill, we take the Chair Lift. The Budapest Chair Lift goes gently and silently over the ”Beverly Hills” of Budapest, woods, nice gardens, and romantic-looking residences. In the end I take you back to the city by public transport.
