Buda Walking Tour
See your guide: Katalin D.We take a stroll through Old Town's cobblestone streets and cosy little squares, highlighting the architecture and history, and learn the stories that go with them.
The walking tour begins in front of the National Achives, then we’ll see
a stone-sister flying through a wall…at the 800 years old church ruins. Old canons greet us at the Military Museum. Among aristocratic palaces we’ll pass the Wedding Hall and some original, 500 years old dwelling houses.
Then comes the highlight: Matthias Church, the 800 years old Coronation Church of Budapest, and Fishermen’s Bastion with the Word-Heritage view.
Passing the best local Strudel-place in a hidden archway, we descend to the underground cave system of Buda: the Labyrinth. Several natural caves were connected here, creating a 7 miles (11km) long system.
Real bullet holes on the old Ministry of Defense wall: what was the role of Budapest in World War II?
The area of the Royal Palace is a surprising mixture of old architecture, beautiful inner courtyards, and fountains. If you like art and paintings, I recommend that we see the highlights of Hungarian Painting in the Palace. We can end the tour by taking the Funicular (Cable car) down from the Castle Hill of Buda.
